
Cadets perform a traditional dance during the closing
ceremony of the Group E Intra-Sainik Schools Football Championship at Sainik
School Punglwa on Wednesday.
- DIMAPUR — Sainik
School Punglwa, Nagaland, hosted the Group E Intra-Sainik Schools Football
Championship from April 26 to the 30th, bringing together five sainik schools
from north-east India
- According to an update, the schools were Sainik School
Punglwa, Sainik School Imphal, Sainik School Goalpara, Sainik School
Chhingchhip, and Sainik School East Siang. The championship featured three
categories: Under-17 Boys, Under-17 Girls, and Under-15 Boys.
- The event concluded with a closing ceremony on Wednesday,
attended by the principal of Sainik School Punglwa. The final match of the
Under-17 Boys’ category and a cultural programme showcasing traditions of the
northeastern states were part of the ceremony.

- The final match was contested between Sainik School East
Siang and Sainik School Imphal. East Siang won the match 2-1. Cadets from all
five schools also presented a cultural programme featuring regional
performances.
- Before the prize distribution, cadets from the participating
schools took part in a march past. The chief guest awarded medals and trophies
to the winners. Sainik School East Siang won in all three categories: Under-17
Boys, Under-17 Girls, and Under-15 Boys.
- In his address, the chief guest acknowledged the discipline
and team effort of all schools and congratulated Sainik School East Siang. He
also wished them success as they prepare to represent Group E in the All India
Sainik Schools Football Championship, to be held at Sainik School Bhubaneswar,
Odisha.
- Winners of the national event will qualify to represent
Sainik Schools in the Subroto Cup.
