Dimapur, Dec. 9 (EMN): Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland celebrated its 10th annual sports day on Dec. 9 with Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire Minister PWD Roads and Bridges, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest for the closing ceremony.
Principal, Gp Capt Sharad R Keskar while welcoming the guests gave a rundown on significance of the annual sports meet that commenced from Nov. 11 with inter house marathon race competition. He also gave the details of various track and field events held during the month long sports meet that witnessed a number of new records set, beating the earlier school records. Before the start of the track events finale ‘VYWOM’ Voice of Young Warriors of Morong’ the half yearly magazine of the school, show casing the inherent creative expressions of the cadets and different activities undertaken in the school was released by the chief guest.
On the concluding day of the 10th annual athletics and sports meet, finals of some of the track events viz 100 meter, 400 meter, 4x100 meter relay and 200 meter race for cadets in different categories were held, in addition to a tug of war and musical chair for the parents. Cdt Piwoto Z Awomi clocked the 100m in 12:63 seconds and became the fastest cadet of the school.
Patkai House lead by House Master Henminlal and House Captain Khrisavil Ltu lifted the Inter House Athletics and Sports Trophy of the year 2017-18.
Later, the chief guest gave away the certificates, medals and the trophy to the winners in various events. After the prize award ceremony, the principal presented the school memento to the chief guest.
The chief guest in his address stated that cadets have to excel in academics and sports so that are always remembered by the batch-mates and other people. He shared his memories about the initial setup of the Sainik School Punglwa and efforts put in for which he was actively involved as a Nodal Officer representing the state government.
He also stressed that students have to give time and efforts to achieve their goals in life and not to get discouraged with failures. Parents also have to play a greater role in shaping and upbringing of their wards.
The function was also attended by various dignitaries and proud parents of the cadets of SSPN.
