Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): The junior class basketball championship 2018-19 of Sainik School Punglwa which started on Nov. 1 concluded on Nov. 8 with the final match played between class 7C and 6C. In the final match, class 7C defeated Class 6C emphatically by 30 baskets to 2, stated an update received here on Fri. Nov. 9. The championship was played on a knock out basis by six sections of junior classes. Cdt Vikole Zhasa of 7C was adjudged the best player of the championship.
The purpose of conducting the event was to encourage the novice cadets to build camaraderie, sportsmanship and explore the talents of the game.
The final match was attended by the Principal Gp Capt Sharad R Keskar as the chief guest. He presented the prizes to the winners and congratulated them all. The chief guest in his short address stressed the young cadets that it is important for a player to stick to strategy of a game and team work in order to be successful when played as a team game.
