Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): A total of 40 cadets of the Sainik School, Punglwa, were reposed with the responsibility of school house captains and house vice captains during its investiture ceremony for the academic session 2018-19 held on April 23.
Colonel Nishit Murat Singh Thakur, Commanding Officer of 36 Assam Rifles, Jalukie, accompanied by his wife Mamta Thakur graced the occasion as chief guest. On arrival, the guests were received by Group Captain Sharad R Keskar, Principal, Sainik School Punglwa.
The investiture ceremony signifies the reliance and confidence that the school consigns in the newly invested cadets. The cadets were selected for the appointments after undergoing through a detailed selection process and consider their overall performance in various fields such as academics, sports, discipline, officer like qualities and leadership qualities shown in school and house activities.
The school and house appointees were administered an oath, wherein they have pledged to discharge their responsibilities honestly, sincerely and to the best of their abilities. They also promised to display their dignity, integrity, discipline, leadership approach and a role model to all cadets.
The chief guest, in his address, motivated the cadets that they were privileged to be part of the school. He exhorted them to endeavour and be a man who could stand at all testing times. He also urged them to accept challenges and occupy with good thoughts that bring optimism, creativity and magnanimity. He also expressed his confidence that cadets bear the responsibility of making the country into New India. He complimented the principal and staff for their commendable contribution to the society.
The singing of national anthem in unison by the school cadets and staff marked the culmination of the grandeur ceremony.
Post ceremony, the chief guest presented a motivational lecture to the cadets, wherein he stressed to follow the school’s rules and regulation. He encouraged them to fulfil the goals of the school. Further, Major NS Angami, an officer from Nagaland and alumni of prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, and NDA, motivated the cadets by sharing his life experiences in the army. He advised them to have a focused approach to one’s goal ie National Defence Academy and added that there is no space for weakness in armed forces.
The chief guest also presented a memento to the school and the principal as a token of remembrance.
