Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): The 11th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting 2017 was convened at KVK office, Porba, in Phek district on April 18. The meeting was chaired by Moalemba Walling, District Horticulture Officer and Project Director ATMA, Phek, Nagaland.
Dr. T. Esther Longkumer, I/C Senior Scientist cum Head, KVK, Phek, welcomed the member of the Scientific Advisory Committee. The achievement during the year 2016-17 was presented by Dr. Rinku Bharali, ACTO Horticulture, while action plan for the year 2017-18 was presented by Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky SMS (Animal Sc.), KVK, Phek.
A brief presentation on Action Taken Report (SAC 2015-16) and Pilot Project for doubling farmer’s income by 2022 was delivered by Dr. T Esther Longkumer, I/C Senior Scientist cum Head, KVK, Phek.
The presentations were followed by suggestions and discussions by the committee members. DHO Phek stressed on quality seed production and making it readily available to the farmers. Progressive farmer and SAC committee member Taveshu emphasised on popularisation of tested technologies among farmers and rural youth for income generation. The vote of thanks was proposed by Keniseto Chucha, farm manager, KVK, Phek.
