DIMAPUR — The Christian Education Ministry of S Hotovi Ghami Baptist Akukuhou (S Hotovi Village Baptist Church) organised a pre-Tuluni festival celebration on Friday at S Hotovi Ghami Baptist Akukuhou, Kuhuboto, Niuland district.
The main objective of the Ministry is to instil cultural values and traditions in the lives of the younger generation amidst the influence of diverse cultural trends, ensuring that their identity remains rooted in their heritage.

The chief guest for the event, president of Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union (DDADU), Tito Yepthomi, in his address, acknowledged the wisdom of their forefathers in preserving the Tuluni festival for future generations.
Yepthomi highlighted the importance of celebrations in fostering love and harmony within the church and community, while also inspiring children. He emphasised that Sunday school can be a blessing, laying a strong foundation in faith and values that can help them achieve great heights and become future leaders.
The celebration began with an opening act performed by beginner and primary students of Christian Education Ministry, was followed by a traditional Sumi women’s folk song titled ‘Thishole,’ which is traditionally associated with the pounding of rice during Tuluni.
Highlights of the event included a war dance by the cultural troupe, typically performed during a feast of merit or in celebration of a victorious battle, followed by folk songs and a poetry recitation on Tuluni.
The event also featured traditional games such as a jumping competition for girls, and top spinning and cockfighting for boys, adding a festive and lively spirit to the celebration.
