DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25: Expounding that unity is prerequisite for any social development, Parliamentary Secretary of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, S Chuba Longkumer, urged every tribe in Nagaland to work for unity.
Addressing the 40th annual general conference of the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Kohima (ZSUK) at Capital Convention Hall near Secretariat complex on September 24 on the theme ‘Unite for glory and wisdom,’ Chuba Longkumer exhorted that Zeliangrong people should work even harder for the simple fact that they are unique unlike other tribes. Pointing out that they are inhabited beyond Nagaland to Assam and Manipur, Chuba Longkumer encouraged the Zeliangrong students that unity among the Zeliangrong will make them stronger in particular and the Nagaland in general.
The Parliamentary Secretary also said that Zeliangrong people can be ambassadors of peace to all the three states if they are truly united adding the voice of Zeliangrong students will be the most formidable in Nagaland and beyond.
Stating that we are in the midst of the third revolution known as information revolution, where knowledge is an important commodity, the chief guest said people with quality education are the most powerful people. Chuba also cautioned that in the age of information technology with ample information available, there are possibilities that the students could go astray unless they focused and purpose driven. In this regard, he encouraged the students to decide on their career very carefully and be honest in their approach towards their goal.
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Kohima unanimously elected new team of office bearers with Keyileurangbe Thou as president Kohima, Bangdwa as vice president, and Kewizaisi as general secretary.
In the entertainment session, Miss Kawichamliu and Liahing were crowned as Miss & Mr 2016. The Union also felicitated 14 merit students with citation and certificate.
