Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): The Assam Rifles training centre and school in Shokhuvi garrison organised “Run for Fit India” in order to “inculcate the habit of physical fitness amongst all citizens of India and to remain healthy.”
According to a press release received on Friday, the event which was held on September 28 aimed at spreading awareness about the significance of ‘Swastha’ and ‘Swachhata’ among the inhabitants of the garrison. It consisted of 5 km and 3 km runs in order to encourage all personnel, families and children.
“A total of 20 officers, 40 junior commission officers, 400 other ranks and families, 150 recruits and 300 children including 100 students of Assam Rifles public school (primary) Shokhuvi garrison participated in the event,” it informed.
Arjun Segan, Commandant, Assam Rifles training centre and school, flagged off the 5 km run while the 3 km run was flagged off by Manjeet Kaur, vice regional president ARWWA. The event also helped in spreading the ‘Swachha Bharat’ campaign wherein “participants picked up garbage and litter along the route with an aim to spread awareness about cleanliness ‘Swastha’ and Swachhta.”
