Dimapur, Oct. 30 (EMN):Mon has vaccinated 96.4% of children in the district amid rumours against the measles rubella vaccination campaign being undertaken across the state. The vaccination team in the district has “faced a vast variety of criticism, nonetheless the effort put forth was thunderstruck that led every steps valuable towards the campaign leading to an enormous successful story,” according to the district’s health mission.
The campaign could not have made this far without the support of the Mon district administration, a press release from the media cell of the National Health Mission (NHM), which is leading the vaccination campaign.
Deputy Commissioner K Thavaseelan, also the chairman of the district health society of Mon was mentioned in the press release as having trained his administrative officers ‘in order to visit schools and villages with negative responses.’
“He personally visited a good number of schools/villages and vaccinated the MR Vaccine himself in order to endorse the vaccine,” the press release stated.
According to the updates from the media officer of the NHM, out of 58,397 children, a total 56, 159 children were vaccinated as on October 29.
“The combine MR troop which includes the district health society, district administration, Social Welfare, Education department and the village leaders still hope to attempt full coverage with the confidence of the knowledge acquired by the people of Mon on measles rubella vaccine,” the press release added.
