Ruckus,destruction mar launching of daily market in Thilixu village

Dimapur, May 16 : Commotion broke out this morning at the newly launched Daily Market under Thilixu village Block-III after a group of people went on rampage by demolishing the sign board and resorted to physical assault and threatening the village council members, GBs and public.

The incident reportedly happened at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday when the village members were gathered for dedication of the Daily Market.

In an FIR lodged with the East Police Station, village chairman Nikhevi Yeputho has named Kughato Chophy and his brother Khekiye Chophy, both residents of Thilixu village, for creating ruckus. It said the two persons along with around 30 youth, without any provocation forcibly destroyed the Daily Market signboard and resorted to physical assault on one of the members.

In the FIR, the council claimed that the group arrived in 10-15 vehicles armed with knives, sticks and other weapons with deliberate intention to harass and assault the public. It also claimed that the group fired several rounds saying empty case/ tip of bullet head are with the investigating officer.



In the light of the development, the council urged the authority concerned to immediately arrest the perpetrators and award befitting punishment.

The village council members told media persons that the group fled the scene after the incident. Meanwhile, the village council said the Daily Market would continue to function.
