Dimapur, Dec. 21 (EMN): Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) has held its 39th general conference in Tesophenyu village from December 18 to 20. The introductory session of the conference witnessed discourse on the topic “Model Rengma organisation conference” with an objective for Model Rengma Vision 2030.
The second day and inaugural programme was graced by Er. Levi Rengma, parliamentary secretary of PWD (Housing) as the chief host and chief guest. He was accompanied by other colleagues namely Er. Picto Shohe, parliamentary secretary of law and justice; Amenba Yaden, parliamentary secretary of industries & commerce and NIDC; and YM Yolow, parliamentary secretary of agriculture.
Stressing on the theme of the conference “Aspire & Achieve,” the chief guest encouraged the students to have “smart plan” i.e. to be specific, measurable, achievable, reliable, and time bound. Stating that the society today is ridden by trust deficit, he asked the congregation to be true to themselves and do the right thing.
“Young generation today has the responsibility to even correct the elders if they are misguiding,” he said and encourage the students to fear the Lord in order to achieve their goals.
The valedictory function on December 20 was graced by Rajesh Soundararajan, deputy commissioner, Kohima. The valedictory function also witnessed cultural extravaganza presented by different constituent units in the forms of folk dance, folklore narration, act and folk song reviving the rich glory of Rengma culture, history and tradition.
The speaker emphasised that young Rengma Nagas can play critical role in fighting for the just right in the demand for district. Focusing on the theme “Aspire and Achieve,” he stated that one should aspire for great things and do small things everyday by making the right choice.
In his concluding remark, he encouraged the students to utilise their gifts for all round development and progressive society.
The programme was chaired by Asa Tep, while the invocation prayer was said by Shayhun Tsela, pastor TLBC. Meshenchu Kath, pastor NTBC, said the benediction.
