Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): In a daring heist, a robber looted at least Rs 14 lakh from Dimapur’s largest, and perhaps most tightly-guarded bank – State Bank of India main branch – located just opposite the old SP office on Monday afternoon.
Despite the news spreading like wildfire – and going viral on the internet – on Monday evening, SBI officials refused to confirm the news. While privately admitting that the robbery had indeed taken place, bank officials told reporters to confirm the incident from the police.
Even as Dimapur police sources confirmed the robbery, they also refused to provide any further details claiming that investigation was on. A short video, reportedly captured by the bank’s cctv, showing the alleged robber started circulating in social media platforms in the evening.
As per the video, the alleged broad-daylight robbery appears to have taken place around 1.25 pm on Monday, in the bank’s first floor. Sources suggested that the robbery occurred at counter no 20, even as police as well as bank officials refused to confirm the information.
In the video, the suspect – a man wearing blue t-shirt and black pants – could be seen talking over the phone and taking the money off the counter.
