Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): Acting swiftly on information from sources, personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Rangiya managed to rescue seven girls alongwith a trafficker from a train on July 10. The names and age of the girls were not mentioned but it is understood that they are minors.
The girls were rescued by RPF team comprising inspector Ashok Das, head constable JS Kalita, constable Bhaskar Malakar, head constable Sachindra Bharali and constable Ahjaj Khan, during search conducted on train 15648 DN Guwahati-LTT Express.
The team could rescue four girls from coach No S-9, who were being taken to Mumbai on the pretext of employment in fish factory. Later on further search, three more girls were rescued from coach No S-6 along with one lady trafficker.
Chief public relation officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma stated in a press release that all of them were ‘de-trained’ at Barpeta Road station and brought back to Rangiya for further action. The name of the lady trafficker was identified as Kalpana Barman (40) year from Baska district. On interrogation, the trafficker revealed that she had planned to take all the girls to Mumbai on commission basis.
The press release mentioned RPF had so far rescued 20 children from the hand of traffickers.
