Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 26 minors from railway stations and trains during the period from Oct. 15 to 30.
On Oct. 22, Asst. Sub Inspector Makunda Deka along with head constable and Child Protection and Detection Squad detected three minors travelling in train No. 15960 DN (Kamrup Express) without any guardian. The minors were rescued and their parents were informed, a statement from Pro said.
In another such case on Oct. 15, Sub Inspector Dhireswar Rabha along with head constables and RPF rescued two runaway minors. Matter was informed to their family members and subsequently, the rescued girls were handed over to their parents after proper identification.
The RPF has rescued nearly 700 children from railway premises as well as from running trains in 2018. Seventeen traffickers were also arrested during this period and actions were taken accordingly, it stated.
