Dimapur, Sep. 27 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has rescued as many as 17 children from railway stations and trains from Sep. 17 to 23rd.
In one of such case, on Sep. 18, the RPF train escort party while escorting the train from Kamakhya to Rangiya, rescued a minor girl and arrested a kidnapper identified as Majibar Rahman of Patharkuchi village of Assam. According to NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Pranav Jyoti Sharma, the accused along with the rescued girl were handed over to IC/Jorabat (OP).
In a separate incident, the RPF Inspector and team on Sep. 20, rescued three girls all from Tinsukia. In this connection one Hemanta Sarmah of Lekhapani, Tinsukia was arrested.During the interogation, the accused confessed that he was taking the girls to Delhi on promise of giving them job, the CPRO strated.
Also, on Sep. 22 the RPF duty staff rescued three runaway minor girls all from Alipurduar, West Bengal, from PF No. 01 of Siliguri junction station.
Subsequently, the rescued girls were handed over to centre coordinator of Childline, Siliguri.
