Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): Acting on a specific input about carrying of narcotic items by train No.12378 DN (Padatik Express), a joint checking was conducted by narcotic officials/Siliguri and RPF Officers and staff of RPF/Post, New Jalpaiguri on July 9 at New Jalpaiguri station. This was stated in a press note by Pranav Jyoti Sharma, chief public relation officer, NF railway Maligaon. During the drive, one person identified as Ranjit Paul, aged about 56 years, s/o late Keshto Charan Paul, resident of Jamurivitta, Sahudangi Hat, Dabgram, Dist. Japaiguri, West Bengal was arrested with 4.7 kg of opium from his possession. The recovered opium was seized by narcotic officials and the person was taken into custody. Value of the recovered opium is estimated to be INR 16,45,000. In another such case on July 12 Asst Sub Inspector / K. K. Biswas along staff of RPF Post, Agartala (Lumding division), while checking at Agartala railway station, recovered 7 bags containing total 55 packets Ganja weighing about 110 kgs at platform No. 2. The recovered Ganja was handed over to the Superintendent of Excise, Agartala, Tripura. The estimated value of the recovered Ganja is INR 6,60,000.
