Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Guwahati railway station arrested a thief who stole the mobile phone of an African football player who plays for Chennai FC football team. According to an update from the chief public relation officer, NF Railway in Maligaon, it is learnt that 29 years old footballer Lawal Mutiu Adjibola, was having breakfast at the Jana Aahar Restaurant located at platform No. 1 of Guwahati railway station at about 9:50 hrs on Nov. 11 when he noticed that his mobile phone was missing. On receiving the information, CCTV footage of the Jana Aahar Restaurant was checked immediately by the RPF and the criminal was identified. Accordingly, head constable / Jamal Uddin and constable / Kamal Hussain of RPF / Guwahati Post conducted vigorous search, during which the criminal Narul Ahmad, aged 36 years and a resident of Bhakulipathar, PS: Juria, Dist. Nagaon, Assam was arrested from near Gate No. 2 of Guwahati railway station with the stolen mobile phone. The arrested person along with the recovered mobile was handed over to OC/GRP/Guwahati who registered a case vide No. 307/2018 U/S 380 IPC dated 11.11.2018.
RPF also conducted ticket checking drive from Nov. 5-11 and apprehended as many as 111 ticketless travellers and fine to the tune of INR 41,455 was realised from offenders. During this period, a total 27 persons were also arrested by the RPF for needlessly interfering with Alarm Chain and prosecuted them under section 141 Railways Act.
