DIMAPUR — A one-day district level training on Routine Immunisation (RI) micro plan and health system strengthening was conducted at the conference hall of the chief medical officer’s office, Kohima on Tuesday.
More than 80 participants comprising of medical officers, block programme managers, block ASHA coordinators, community health officers and nurses from all health units under Kohima and Tseminyu districts, attended the training, an update stated.
Dr. Imkong Temsu Longchar, state immunisation officer and Dr. GR Rio, deputy director (UIP) from DoHFW also attended and participated in the day-long training.
The exhaustive training consisted of various topics on RI microplan formats, conducting quality headcount survey, supportive supervision and monitoring, safe injection practices, immunisation waste management, adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) and management of anaphylaxis, cold chain and logistics management, electronic vaccine intelligence network (eVIN), U-WIN portal, communication plan for RI, vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) surveillance and use of data for improvement of immunisation coverage and activity.
Resource persons for the training were Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, DIO Kohima, district programme manager - NHM, district community mobiliser, vaccine and cold chain Manager and partners from WHO and UNDP.

It was mentioned that the full immunisation coverage in Kohima district currently stands at around 71% based on Census 2011 baseline data, whereas actual headcount achievement is much higher.
Routine immunisation microplan preparation is a routine activity during which health workers visit each and every household in urban and rural areas to identify pregnant mothers and newborn/children for due vaccination.
This microplan helps in identifying unvaccinated beneficiaries and to enable health units to plan for immunisation activities. Such capacity building and refreshers training help in boosting the skill of health care workers and staying upto date with changing Health Ministry guidelines, it stated.
