Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): The 3rd edition of the students' Summer Camp at the Woods (a resort) at Mokokchung was successfully held with thirty-nine students participating at the camp which was held on the theme "Explore Yourself" from July 5-7th, 2018.
The brainchild of the Summer Camp, Adang Jamir - proprietor of The Woods resort who is also an event manager - said that the concept of the Summer Camp at the resort is not on the lines of other similar summer camps held in the state.
He said that the main objective of the camp was to give a break to the students, to make them understand nature, make new friends, and also to prepare them for the future as they grow up in life.
"The Summer Camp at The Woods aspires to expose them to the outside world apart from the computer games, the books and comforts of their homes," said Adang Jamir. He said the camp, apart from the usual activities of educating the children on swimming, tent making and other Naga tradition skills like basket making, weaving etc were also introduced to well known personalities in Mokokchung town who came and interacted with the campers.
This year, more activities like penalty shootouts, mud wrestling, zip-lining etc were also introduced much to the enjoyment of the campers, the camp director said.
He said that the campers, in order to be more equipped as they go about their daily lives as students, were encouraged by resource persons - Bodi Kapfo EAC, Trongdi EAC and Asinou Asst Public Persecutor - who interacted with the campers and educated them on life skills, career guidance and to be a responsible citizen of the society.
Besides, Chubamen Kichu, who is a well-known and successful a self-made entrepreneur, on the first day shared her experiences and encouraged the students to look beyond the horizon for a sucessful life.
The Camp Director, Adang Jamir disclosed that this year's edition was more sucessful because of the 'beautiful condition' and also because of the FIFA 2018 World Cup event which was screed live at the resort.
He further informed that the maximum campers were from Zunheboto district. "There would have been more campers but because of prior engagements like sports camps and other activities, most students had to cancel their participation, said Adang Jamir. Nonetheless, he said that the next edition of camp would be bigger and better with more activities so as the students would have a memorable summer camp.
It may be noted here that The Woods is located some sixteen kilometres away Mokokchung town at Yimchalu village under Sungratsu village jurisdiction. It is a resort with a big swimming pool and a popular hangout place for youths, family and organizations.
