Dimapur, November 14: Parliamentary Secretary of Law & Justice and SIRD, Er. Picto Shohe exhorted villager elders to revive the original practices of the forefathers in celebrating festivals to keep alive the rich culture and tradition.
Addressing members of Rotomi village on the occasion of Ahuna festival celebration on November 14 as Ahuna Papuh (Ahuna father), Er. Picto Shohe lauded the Rotomi village leaders for organising the festival, which according to him, was gradually losing its originality and fervour.
He encouraged the leaders to seek advice from the village elders about the original practise of celebrating the festival and revive them to keep alive the rich culture and tradition.
Er. Picto urged them to use the occasion as an opportunity to further unity amongst them and work towards progress and development of the village.Several folk dances and songs were presented by Rotomi welfare organisations from Kohima, Dimapur, Zunheboto and Akuhaito besides Rotomi villagers. Competitions were also held in top-spinnig, greased bamboo pole climbing, cock-fight, tug of war etc.
