DIMAPUR, MARCH 30
The sight of the ongoing Rotary Rahat Medical Mission (Free surgical camp), organized by Rotary International with the support of the state government and CIHSR at District Hospital Dimapur, is enormous.
Patients’ lineup at District Hospital Dimapur is one sight that is beyond expectation. Entering the mission’s second day the turnout of patients from various districts of Nagaland and neighboring Assam is relentless said Rotary Club of Dimapur President Temsusenla Kichu to Eastern Mirror on Wednesday.
Kichu updated that on the first day of the mission on Tuesday a total of 40 surgeries were conducted both at District Hospital Dimapur and CIHSR Dimapur; 100 registered for further surgery and a total of 1000 patients registered for OPD. The brainchild behind this Rotary Rahat Medical Mission Rajendra K.Saboo talking to Eastern Mirror conveyed that he would want the initiative to be recognized as a medical mission and not medical camp as this massive effort is being initiated not to offer what they are capable of but to work in partnership with local doctors and share ideas which will be a life changing for doctors through the patients.
Saboo expressed that doctors from Nagaland can join in sharing their mission as Northeastern states has the ability to organize a medical team who can reach out to people across the country. He also shared that some surgeries have been life changing for the doctors. Through this experience Saboo conveyed that he would encourage other team of doctors to take the opportunity to come and interact with the State to understand their needs.
The state is fortunate enough as Rahat Medical Mission is the first in Northeast India since the mission started in 2005. This mission in Dimapur presents a perfect example of people’s urgent need for medical attention in the long run across the state.
