Rotary district governor reviews community service initiatives in Kohima

DIMAPUR — The district governor of Rotary International District 3240, Dr. Kameswar Singh Elangbam, made an official visit to the Rotary Club of Kohima on May 12. He was accompanied by Rabinderjit Singh Panesar, district polio chair.
An update from the club stated that the district governor reviewed various community service initiatives undertaken by the club and appreciated its sustained efforts towards social welfare and community development.
He lauded the club’s support to the Cradle Ridge Children Centre run by the Naga Mothers' Association, where the Rotary Club of Kohima has developed a fruit garden and continues to extend regular assistance for the welfare of children.
The district governor also commended the club’s free tailoring unit, describing it as a meaningful initiative towards women empowerment and livelihood generation. He noted that several women trained under the programme are now independently supporting themselves and their families through the skills acquired at the centre.

Besides, he has appreciated the club’s activities under the basic education and literacy focus area, particularly the recognition of teachers through the Nation Builder Award initiative.
Dr. Elangbam encouraged the Rotarians to continue serving society with compassion, empathy and commitment, while aligning their activities with Rotary’s core areas of focus. He also remarked that Rotary International District 3240 upholds the spirit of unity in diversity, bringing together people from different communities in the shared mission of service above self.
Highlighting the importance of social harmony, he called upon the members to actively contribute towards peace building and conflict resolution in society as responsible citizens.
The programme was chaired by Kevino Savino, president of RCK, while Thiala Chang has officiated the meeting. Fr. Innocent Panmei said the invocation prayers and Ulikhrie Folk Group from Chedema presented a folk song.
Amongla C presented the secretary report and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pikato Jimo.
