Mokokchung, July 9 (EMN): The 44th installation cum induction ceremony of Rotary Club Mokokchung was held at Black & White restaurant where RS Panesar, Assistant Governor Zone IX RI-3240 graced the occasion as the installation officer.
Dr. Takosunep Ao, the newly elected president of the club while delivering his presidential address, thanked the club members for giving him the opportunity to lead the club and hoped that the members will continue to support for the promotion and progress of the club. Sharing his vision, Dr. Takosunep said that he wished to put emphasis on environment during his tenure by asking all the members to plant at least one tree and thereby make a difference in the surrounding.
He also said that the club members will meet every first Saturday of the month at the club house for morning walk as every member needs to be fit and health conscious so as to set an example for other citizens to follow. He also added that the club will also focus mainly on literacy and nation building programmes and project in the calendar year.
Assistant Governor, RS Panesar, in his speech, asked all the club members to support the new team and also said that, he hoped to see an Assistant Governor of Rotary Club emerging from Mokokchung very soon in the future.
He said Rotary Club and Rotarians are making a difference and have changed the life of the people by bringing positive development in the society.
Talking about the threat to environment by deforestation and global warming, he said that the Rotary Club of Dimapur have embarked on a mission to plant one lakh tree saplings in and around Dimapur.
He also advised the members to utilise the talents of the lady members more than their counterparts while doing community activities and projects since they have an inherent talent in communication skills.
Altogether, two new members namely Allen Mark Longkumer and Er. Yanger Pongen were inducted during the ceremony.
