DIMAPUR, JUNE 22: When the country is busy building toilets under the Swachh Bharat mission, Nagaland is yet to feel the change as since 2015 no drastic change could be felt coming from within the government.
Dimapur district in particular is one such district of the state where sanitation has become a major problem.
Places such as the railway platform, road sides and stations to name a few, are some places which is actually becoming a forbidden area when it comes to hygienic living.
All thanks to the Rotary Club Dimapur who has taken the initiative to construct Rotary Silver Jubilee Pay and Use block under the sponsorship of Global Grant. The block is located near the local bus station near Shopping Arcade behind BSNL office.The block which is exceptionally one of the biggest and best structured blocks has separate rooms for both men and ladies with free drinking water facility.
The toilet block was inaugurated by Secretary Development Authority Nagaland (DAN), I.Imtilepden Pongener in the presence of Rotary District Governor Chandu Agarwal.
Crediting the Rotary Club Dimapur for all the developmental works taken up so far towards the society, I.Imtilepden Pongener said Nagaland is fortunate to have Rotary in Dimapur district who are working so hard for the upliftment of the society.
He said the ‘selfless service’ rendered by the club is highly commendable.
Commenting on the countless number of organizations in the state, the chief guest said that only few are working hard depicting their existence in a positive way.
He said the toilet block constructed near the bus station has been a long standing need especially for the late night and early morning travelers.
The Secretary of DAN while congratulating the Rotarians for their accomplishments also advised the club to come up with skill development trainings and programmes for the educated unemployed youths fo the state.
He said the youths today fail to identify their talents because of lack of proper trainings and workshops.
So far the Rotarians has constructed 3 toilet blocks including the block inaugurated today with one at Government College, one at District Hospital.
District Secretary General (D- 3240), R.S Panesar while highlighting on the completed project said that the land under which the block was constructed is being donated by the DAN.
Rotary District Governor Chandu Agarwal also spoke during the inaugural programme.
