Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Rongmei community based in Delhi have floated two organisations on May 13. One organisation is a social organisation christened as Rongmei Phwam Delhi (RPD) and a students' body known as Rongmei Chamnac Phwam Delhi (RCPD).
Rongmei community in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) gathered in a historic meeting at Gospel of Grace Church, North East Place, Burari, Delhi-84 in New Delhi and decided to form the two organisations.
"The long felt need and desire of the Rongmei people in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) was finally realised on May 13 with the support and cooperation of the people," said a joint press statement of the two organisations. It stated that the meeting was attended by elders, senior officers, pastors, professors, student leaders and students from the community.
"The meeting also witnessed unprecedented support for the resolutions moved by the house as there were no opposition but overwhelming support of the members present in the meeting. The two bodies were formed with a unanimous decision of the house," it claimed.
According to the statement, the executives and advisors of the two bodies were also "elected by consensus" of the general body.
Machunlung Kamei (IRS) was elected as the chairman of Rongmei Phwam Delhi and Timothy Gonmei (IRPS) was elected as the general secretary of the apex Rongmei body, Delhi, while Gaisinlung Kamei was elected as the president of Rongmei Chamnac Phwam Delhi, and Pousalung Kamei was elected as the vice president along with Huaineiguang Gangmei as the general secretary of the Rongmei students' body, Delhi.
