DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 20: After months of continuous day-night work by department officials, electricity has finally reached Rongkaidai village under Peren district with the installation of 25 Kva sub-station on November 18 with all required electrical infrastructures.
Till last week, the village looked like a hamlet with no electricity, no drinking water, no school or health centre, and the poor village people have been using solar panels to light up their homes.
Speaking at the dedication programme, SY Odyuo, SDO (Electrical) Jalukie expressed happiness that the residents can now access to electricity and appealed to cooperate with the department in all necessary activities for smooth functioning of the system. He encouraged the gathering to extend their hands in future for any need that may arise from department side like clearance of jungles, maintenance of the power sub-station enclosure, proper use of electricity and regular payment of bills.
Odyuo informed that billing would start with effect from December 2016. As prevailing system of billing is communitised, he said concerned village authority should represent one or two persons to the power department office immediately for necessary steps to be taken.
Village chairman Chingkhiulung Gonmei, on behalf of the village, thanked the government and power department officials for their initiative and execution of the power line in the village and assured all cooperation with the department.
