DIMAPUR — The Lions Club of Dimapur Blue Venda organised a panel discussion on social emotional learning (SEL) titled "Voices of SEL" on September 2, marking the seventh and final day of Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Week 2025.
The event took place at Mount Mary Higher Secondary School and College in Dimapur with the participation of 400 students, parents, and teachers, according to an update.
The programme featured psychologist and professor Dr. Nukshi Esther Imsong of the Department of Psychology, Mount Mary College, as keynote speaker.
She interacted with parents, teachers, and students, emphasising that living a good life contributes significantly to managing depression, anxiety, and stress and to achieving goals.

In her address, Dr. Imsong highlighted ways to manage depression, anxiety, and stress, including positive relationships, purpose and meaning, self-care, and healthy habits. On goal achievement, she stressed the importance of goal setting, focus and direction, resilience, celebrating successes, and respecting elders.
She noted that building a good life improves mental health, increases resilience, enhances well-being, and boosts productivity.
The programme also featured introductory remarks by Sumita Sharma, district chairperson, who outlined the activities and global impact of Lions International, followed by a welcome address from Falguni Sharma, Chairperson of Lions Quest who explained the purpose and objectives of the Lions Quest week.
A gratitude speech was delivered by Mrs. Amongla Imsong, Principal of Mount Mary College.
Earlier, on September 1, the Lions Club of Dimapur Elite organised an event at SD Jain School under the leadership of programme coordinator Shweta Mundra and project chairperson Isha Jain.
An update from the organisation stated that the programme aimed at raising awareness on SEL and equipping students of classes 6 and 7 with essential life skills.
Club members conducted 10 interactive activities covering financial literacy, artificial intelligence awareness, gratitude expression, anti-bullying, and peer appreciation.
These sessions encouraged students to express themselves freely, develop empathy, and build stronger interpersonal relationships.
During a breathing session, club president Meena Sethi introduced techniques for calmness, focus, and self-awareness. This was followed by interactive games facilitated by the principal, teachers, school staff, and Lions members to promote teamwork, attentiveness, and bonding.
An essay writing competition on the theme “Me in a mirror” was also organised.
