Dimapur, Sep. 3: The commissioner-secretary to chief minister of Nagaland, Abhishek Singh took to twitter to update road condition in various parts of Nagaland. The state was badly affected by landslides caused by monsoon rains.
Under the banner ‘Nagaland Fights Back,’ Singh on Monday tweeted, “At New Thewati under Phunguri Circle in Phek District, villagers with support of District Administration and DDMA Phek constructed a temporary wooden bridge - good only for light vehicles. Fresh cutting needed for medium vehicles.”
Giving updates on the road condition between Dimapur-Kohima National Highway, he wrote, “Dimapur Kohima National Highway is cut at Old KMC site for more than a month. Route to Kohima diverted through Jotsoma. Restoration works taken up by PWD Kohima is extremely challenging.” Roads that have been restored as on Sunday included road to Mao gate which was partially restored for vehicular movements. On Mima-Chakhabama road, he tweeted; “Machinery is being deployed on a regular basis to clear this road of landslides and keep it pliable.”
Other roads that are under restoration include Kidima-Zuketsa (13.5 km), Tseisema-Peducha road (10 km).
