DIMAPUR, JANUARY 14
The ongoing road construction with trenches on both sides along Dhobinala-Signal-Thahekhu stretch is posing a great threat to the lives of many commuters.
The pits dug along the stretch for drainage system have been lying open with no safety measures.
Since two months of construction, the pits have been putting commuters in danger. Vehicle users and pedestrians stand at risk of falling into the pits with no sign boards.
Eyewitnesses said that there have been instances where two wheeler riders and some pedestrians including women had fallen into the pits. The unattended road has been creating inconvenience to all drivers some of whom had narrow escapes. The January shower has added more woes to the situation as one could notice the pits turning into ponds.
If concerned authorities can take up steps to ensure safety of commuters then more damage can be avoided and make the ride more convenient.
