DIMAPUR, MAY 13: THE Rongmei Naga People Organization in a press note expressed support with the decision and initiation of the United Naga Council in a show of protest and objection to the controversial three Bills passed by the Government of Manipur.
A press note issued by General Secretary RNPO, G.Gwangphun, reasoned that the state Govt. have been monopolizing and suppressing the rights of the tribal people for too long. The recent passing of the three Bills is but an act of manipulative scheming to ignore and by-pass the rights and will of the tribal people of the state. It is a direct violation of universal human rights and the rights of the world indigenous people, stated in the press release.
G.Gwangphun in the press note expressed that Rongmei people in its general Assembly held at Luangba on May 11 resolved to move for motion against the bills in the interest and spirit of all the tribal people of the state. And resolved in Resolution No.6 read as “Viewed and committed to assert our stands in line with the Manipur tribal peoples’ struggles and assertion in matter of their land. The Rongmei Naga people in the note opposed the three Bills passed since August 31, 2015 on the ground that no tribal rights pertaining to their land and habitation shall be allowed to be politically monopolized and manipulated without the knowledge and mutual consent of the people concerned”.
