Diphu, Dec.3 (EMN): The Rengma Naga Cultural Society (RNCS),Diphu Zone celebrated Ngada festival of the Rengma Naga community on Nov. 28 with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang as the chief guest, informed a press release by RNCS president Rega S. Rengma and secretary Daniel Jishing .
Addressing a mammoth gathering at the Ngada festival, Ronghang announced to construct a Rengma Naga cultural hall at Diphu at the earliest maintained the press note from the society.
The RNCS and the Rengma Naga community has expressed appreciation upon the KAAC authority led by Tuliram Ronghang for taking serious steps to develop and promote the rich traditional culture of the Rengma Naga tribals. They stated ‘it is a welcome declaration and a step towards promoting peace and friendship among different communities cohabiting in this region’, added the statement.
Furthermore, the statement also clarified regarding the announcement to declare Ngada festival as a restricted holiday by Ronghang.
The statement stated that Ngada the festival of goodwill, reconciliation and peace was already declared as holiday by the KAAC authority way back in the year 1997 in an order vide No.KAAC/G-Estt/P(A)/97-98/2/3486.Dated-15/10/1997 but after five years the above mentioned holiday order was replaced as a restricted holiday in a notification vide No.KAAC/Estt/P(A)/95-96/7/4965.dated 21/12/2003.
In this regard the RNCS and leaders from Rengma Naga public demanded upon the KAAC authority for early roll back and to restore the earlier holiday notification and to declare the same as a full holiday instead of restricted holiday at the earliest possible time.
