No more tolerating “oily excuse”
Dimapur, April 15 (EMN): Teachers in Nagaland serving under the education scheme Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) have announced boycott of three days of class as their first phase of agitation against the Education department.
The organisation said to undergo “poster campaign” for the second phase and a sit-in protest at Directorate of School Education for the third until their demands are fulfilled, the teachers stated in a press release that was issued to the media on Saturday.
The teachers declared: “Deriving no positive outcome from the ultimatum served, the Nagaland RMSA Teachers Association (NRMSATA) 2016 is saddened and bewail at the dismal response of the Education department (RMSA) which has prompted the association to boycott 3 (three) days of class from 17th-19th of April as the first phase of agitation, poster campaign (II phase of agitation), sit in protest at directorate of school education (III phase of agitation) etc. until demands are fulfilled.”
The association lamented that “misleading hopes and oily excuse” were a testament of “their insincerity.”
Over a period of five months, the press release stated, the association was informed “at least four times about the salary being nearly ready, the disbursal of which being in the following week or month creating a spurious hope for the member to wait only to find in the end, their silence.”
All hope has run dry and the department's verbal assurances have no meaning or consequences now, the teachers lamented. “All efforts to maintain a strong ethic has been met out with excuses.
The association warns the department not to take the ethical conduct and misinterpret it as a weakness of the association. Hardworking teachers have been rewarded with untold hardship, physical exhaustion coupled with financial stress and should this trend continue, it will not be long before we take to the streets for bagging for being a sincere teacher.”
Service Regularisation
Another issue that the association referred to was Service Regularisation. The NRMSATA has strongly reminded the department that according to the guideline and framework of RMSA, all teachers should have to be appointed under the “state education department” by their respective state on a “regular basis with same service condition as of the state teachers.
Also, the teachers stated, “it is matter of great concern when those appointment made through backdoor and political aid are appointed as a regular employees but, to our utter surprise the RMSA teachers appointed in 2016, whose appointment was done through proper channel free and fair open competition, fulfilled all the pre-requisite qualification and had gone through all the formal test like any other standard competitive examination was deprived of our right and justice by inducting us as purely contractual employees.”
The association has urged the state government to “re-examine the matter seriously for Service Regularization of RMSA teachers 2016 at the earliest possible so that the ideal of fairness and justice will come to its way.”
The organisation has informed all its members to refrain from joining their duties until any further notification.
“The incumbent teachers remind that, they are ready to face any consequences for what is right and just,” the press release stated.
The teachers have requested citizens to extend their support and cooperation “as all these related issues are the root cause of corruption in the society.”
In the course of implementing the action plans, the press release added, the association “shall not be held responsible for any negative outcomes.”
