KOHIMA, OCTOBER 27
The Nagaland RMSA Written Exam 2014 Qualified Candidates’ Forum which called for an indefinite agitation on October 27 in demand of viva voce result for graduate subject teachers and appointment orders for selected candidates, and the conduct of viva voce interview for sports instructor candidates, called off the agitation following verbal assurance from the education department to address the matter by November 10.
In a release today, the forum convener Kakika Z Sumi and general secretary Ruvuotuonuo Ruth stated that around 500 qualified candidates gathered at the RMSA office in the state capital today to protest against the non-fulfilment of their grievances. However, the Mission Director RMSA reportedly intervened and apprised the candidates that the result of viva voce was ready and had been sent to the Secretariat for endorsement of the Education Minister, Chief Secretary and the commissioner & secretary of the department. The Mission Director informed that since the concerned minister and the Chief Secretary were out of station, the approval is kept pending and that it was not in the hands of the RMSA department to declare the result, the release stated.
It said the forum executives then went to meet the commissioner & secretary Education, FP Solo, who in turn assured that once the minister and Chief Secretary returned, things will be worked out within two weeks, ie, by November 10. The official is said to have given a verbal assurance that the result of the viva interview will be declared within two weeks’ time and appointment orders for selected candidates will be given out in the following 2-3 days.
“As the assurance was given by the commissioner & secretary with full conviction, the candidates decided to call off the agitation,” the release said.
The education secretary of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Imtiyapang also reportedly addressed the gathering and extended the support of the NSF towards the issue saying that they will also pressurise the government to complete the whole process within the stipulated time.
