Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): The annual sports meet of Rivenburg School, Medziphema got underway with Manenkaba Aier, founding member of Air Gun Sporting Association of Nagaland (AGSAN) as the guest speaker on Wednesday.
In his speech, Aier informed on the steps taken by the government under the initiative of chief minister Neiphiu Rio for upliftment of sports in Nagaland, an update informed.
He further said that one of the main objectives of AGSAN is to work at the school and college-level to provide a platform to the talented teens and youths in the field of sports and encouraged ‘the parents to let their children follow their dreams rather than forcing them to choose popular professions’.
Bitong Sangtam, former president of Eastern Naga Students Union Delhi and the guest of honour declared the sports meet open.
Highlights of the programme included unfurling of the flag, march past, sports pledge and the lighting of the Rivenburg flame of sports.
