The first ever District Level Vigilance & Monitoring Committee (DLV&MC)meetings for Mon, Longleng, Tuensang and Kiphire were held on Wednesday and Thursday. For the district of Mokokchung the meeting will be held on Friday. The main objective of this flagship programme is to uplift the economy of the rural population. At Mon the meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Mon on Wednesday. On Thursday, a joint meeting for Tuensang and Kiphire was held. At Tuensang, Neiphiu Rio and Khekiho Zhimomi inspected the district hospital and held a short meeting with the hospital authority.
Meanwhile, in all the meetings Lok Sabha MP who is also the Chairman DLV&MC, Neiphiu Rio in his addresses to the members said that due to lack of proper monitoring and supervision the funds provided by the Government are not reaching the beneficiaries or the targeted people. He asserted that the main activity of the DLV&MC is to set everything in order and to ascertain whether the funds provided by the Government are properly implemented as per the needs and desire of the people. Seeking cooperation and support of its members Rio said that with the complete coordination of the members the aspiration of the people would be fulfilled.
The Lok Sabha MP then asserted that it is important for the rural mass to know the policies and programmes of the Government and its implementation and it is also the rights of the people to know the activities of the DLV&MC. Therefore, he appealed to the members to involve and understand the responsibility and also to work systematically and sincerely for the benefit of the people.
Informing that ENPO areas are lagging behind in education, infrastructure, economic development, etc. Rio said that it is the responsibility of all concern to contribute and work for the development of this region and improve their living standard. He informed to visit all district in the near future and to make a surprised visit to project sites.
MP of Rajya Sabha & Co-Chairman of DLV&MC, Khekiho Zhimomi, also spoke and exhorted the members. He said with the renew strength and consolidate outlook of the committee he was optimistic of moving forward for successful implementation of Government schemes in the state. He also said that DLV&MC will serve as an open platform for the HODs of the district to share their views freely to achieve its target which will benefit the people.
At the Mon meeting, Deputy Commissioner Honje Konyak suggested that Director of Hills Area Development Organization (HADO) working under the Christian Mission Centers of the state to be nominated as the members representing the NGOs. He also suggested nominating the president of the apex women organization of every district to represent women members. He further suggested to streamlined distribution of CGI Sheet under IAY.
The HODs of the DRDA, PHED, Land Resource Department, Social Welfare and Road & Bridge department of Mon and Longleng districts highlighted their respective developmental activities and also repotted their grievance to the two MPs. They also pointed out that most of the schemes and projects could not be implemented properly as targeted due to irregularity of funds from the Central Government. The HODs also highlighted their suggestions and measures for smooth implementation of respective schemes. The Program was attended by the members of both Mon and Longleng districts.
