Rio welcomes Bhalla as new governor

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has extended a warm welcome to Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who assumed additional charge as the Governor of Nagaland alongside his responsibilities in Manipur.

In a message on social media platform X, Rio wrote: “On behalf of the people of Nagaland, I welcome Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla Ji on assuming charge as the Governor of Nagaland, concurrent with his responsibilities in Manipur. His vast experience will be invaluable in advancing peace, harmony, and progress in our state.”

Bhalla, a retired IAS officer of the 1984 Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has held several key posts in the Union government, including Union Home Secretary.

His appointment comes following the demise of Governor La Ganesan on August 15.
