Rio to flag off Round-4 of INRC 2022 in Kohima

Dimapur, Jan. 11 (EMN): Altogether, 80 drivers and co-drivers have reached Kohima to compete in the Round-4 of Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) 2022 hosted by Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) in partnership with the government of Nagaland from January 12 to the 14th.

Organised by Federation of Motor Sports Council of India (FMSCI) with Blueband Sports as the promoter, 80 drivers and co-drivers from across the country would participate in the event.

The championship would be held in two routes in Kohima covering a distance of 120 km from Jotsoma to Dzülekie NEC road on January 13 and Kohima bye-pass road connecting IG stadium on January 14. The rally would commence at 6 am on both days, stated an update issued by INRC media officer.

It stated that Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, would ceremonially flag off the rally at Hockey Ground, Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on January 12 at 3:30 pm.

During the programme, NAC convener, Peter Rutsa, would deliver the welcome address, while Blueband Sports chief promoter, Premnath Kasinath, would also exhort the gathering. 

Some of the prominent riders including Gaurav Gill, Karna Kadur, Aditya Thakur, Fabid Ahmer and Chetan Shivram would be participating in the championship, Kasinath said.

NAC president, Burakum Ao, informed that for spectators to witness the event, ticketing has been fixed at INR 2000 per car, where they would be allocated particular space as the rally goes on the said routes.

Burakum stated that NAC was established in the year 2010 with an objective of promoting adventure and motor sports in the state. He stated that the club has dedicatedly worked in achieving its objective through its annual event popularly known by all as the HorsePower challenge over the years.

“The club feels elated today in achieving one of its dreams of being the first club in the state to bring a national event of the scale of national rally championship to the state, which will be first of its kind for the people to witness,” he said.

Meanwhile, the podium ceremony would be held on January 14 at 4 pm at RCEMPA, Jotsoma.

Traffic regulations for INRC

In view of the Round 4 of Blueband FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2022 scheduled on January 13 and 14 in Kohima district, the Kohima Police informed that movement of vehicles from Jotsoma to Khonoma would be restricted on January 13 from 6 am to 4 pm and from T Khel Model Village (bye pass road) to IG Stadium on January 14 from 6 am to 4 pm. An update from PRO of DEF Kohima informed the public to take alternative route via Khonoma-Mezoma–Dzudza bridge on January 13 during the restriction period. All concerned are requested to bear with the inconvenience and extend cooperation for the success of the rally.
