Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer mourn the demise of former MLA Dr. Longrineken, who passed away on March 7 in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Sharingain Longkumer have expressed grief at the demise of former MLA Dr. Longrineken, who died on March 7 in Dimapur.
In a condolence message, Rio said that he was “deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely demise of Dr. Longrineken, my former colleague and former MLA of the 29th Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency.”
Describing the late leader as a sincere public servant, the chief minister said: “Dr. Longri was a gentle and kind person, a sincere leader who carried his responsibilities with humility and dedication. During the years we worked together, I came to know him as a man of quiet strength and integrity, someone who spoke little but remained deeply committed to serving the people and working for their welfare.”
Rio added that Dr. Longrineken’s passing was “a great loss to all who knew him,” stating that “the Ao community in general and Khar village in particular have lost a respected leader and mentor.”
“May Almighty God grant them comfort and strength in the days ahead,” he said while extending condolences to the bereaved family.
NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer also expressed “profound sorrow” over the passing of Dr. Longrineken.
Longkumer recalled that the late leader was a two-time NLA member, first elected to the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 29-Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency.
He held several important responsibilities in the government, serving as Advisor and Parliamentary Secretary of various departments, and was later re-elected to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, where he served as Advisor for Law & Justice.
The Speaker also highlighted Dr. Longrineken’s involvement in humanitarian initiatives, stating that he served voluntarily in the State Coordination of the Indian Campaign to Ban Landmines under the Indian Institute for Peace, Disarmament and Environmental Protection, Nagpur, as well as with Geneva Call, Switzerland.
“Through his involvement in these initiatives, he demonstrated a strong commitment to the promotion of peace, human rights, and humanitarian principles,” Longkumer stated.
“At this moment of grief, I on my own behalf and on behalf of the Members of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray that Almighty God grant them the strength to endure this irreparable loss,” Longkumer said.
