Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): The chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio inspected on Wednesday the damaged portions of NH 29 at the KMC garbage dumping area, which had been cut off from access since July 31 following a major landslide and road subsidence owing to incessant rain during July and August this year.
Updates from the chief minister’s office (CMO) on Wednesday informed that Rio reviewed progress of the restoration works, accompanied by government officers from the national highways and the state government.
‘The chief engineer informed the chief minister that the road will be opened for light vehicles (to and fro) while heavy vehicles going down towards Dimapur will be allowed. However, heavy vehicles coming up towards Kohima will still have to take the Peducha-Tsiesama road,’ the CMO stated. The road is scheduled to be opened on the September 29, it added.
