KOHIMA — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday expressed displeasure over poor attendance in the ongoing eighth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, stating that around 25 per cent of MLAs were absent by Tuesday afternoon and that the galleries meant for Administrative Heads of Departments (AHODs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs) were largely empty.
Delivering his concluding remarks on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address, Rio said he was “sad” that officers were not present to listen to debates and departmental discussions.
“Otherwise, they will have no knowledge,” he remarked, adding that issues raised in the House may not be effectively implemented if officers remain unaware of proceedings.

Through the Speaker, he directed that the concern of the House be conveyed to the officers and ordered that recorded discussions be circulated to all departments as a warning to ensure attendance in future sessions.
He also said members who were absent, including during the afternoon sitting, should be informed accordingly.
