Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio called for the unity and oneness of the Naga family and extended the call of friendship and understanding to all other communities, especially the neighbors of the Naga community. He made these statements at Kanubari in Arunachal Pradesh, where he was the chief guest of the Oriah festival of the Wancho Naga tribe on February 16.
Rio also called all sections to come forward and support the peace process in the aftermath of the Framework Agreement. Rio reiterated that the people are longing for permanent peace and political solution and he exuded confidence that the Government of India was sincere in its efforts to resolve the decades old Indo-Naga political issue.
Rio urged the people to celebrate the festival under an atmosphere of brotherhood and also reach out to other communities to foster friendship, unity and understanding.
He appreciated the wholesome participation of the Nagas and all the village representatives and cultural teams who had travelled to Kanubari to participate in the festivities.
Other prominent leaders who were also present were the General Secretary of the Naga Hoho, Metsekhoyi Yobo, ENSF President Sasha, representatives of ENFO , NPF and BJP leaders and representatives of civil societies and NGOs.
