Neiphiu Rio mourns Kuchiheing Rangkau Zeliang, son of Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, recalling his contributions to youth and sports
DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday express grief at the death of Kuchiheing Rangkau Zeliang, elder son of Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, describing it as a personal loss and remembering him as a young entrepreneur committed to youth development.
In a condolence message, Rio said Kuchiheing had been a childhood friend of his son and was like a son to him. He said the sudden death had left him and his family deeply saddened.
Remembering Kuchiheing’s involvement in sports and youth initiatives, Rio said he had worked to create opportunities for young people in Nagaland.
Kuchiheing served as an advisor to the Nagaland Pickleball Association and was the founder and chairman of Barack Football Club. Rio said his initiatives in promoting pickleball and football reflected his commitment to nurturing young talent and bringing people together through sports.

Describing him as humble, kind and approachable, the chief minister said Kuchiheing had been willing to help those in need and had encouraged and supported others. He also recalled his involvement in activities focused on youth empowerment and development.
Rio said Nagaland had lost a promising young leader whose compassion and commitment to the welfare of others would be remembered.
Extending condolences on behalf of himself, his wife and their family, the chief minister conveyed sympathy to TR Zeliang and the bereaved family, particularly Kuchiheing’s wife and daughter. He also prayed for strength and comfort for the family as they cope with the loss.
