Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): At the backdrop of the recent order from the Election Commission of India the Naga People's Front party led by Neiphiu Rio has on Tuesday stated that it will file a and acknowledges the need to file a 'Review Petition' as there were misrepresentation of facts and statistics, by the 'other NPF dissenter group'.
" Reviews the ECI Order dated 17th October, 2017, in regard to “Dispute Case No. 3 of 2017, a Dispute in Naga People’s Front, a recognized State Party in the States of Nagaland and Manipur,” and, thereof, recognizes and acknowledges the need to file a Review Petition—since the competent authority of the ECI has been grossly misguided with misrepresentation of facts and statistics, by the other NPF dissenter group."
This resolution along with a series of others that was handed out to the media were made during a consultative meeting of the party's central office at Kohima.
It stated that the party appreciated "competent" and "wise" decision of the ECI for suggesting to the NPF Party to settle its internal dispute through reconciliation and therefore "openly extends" its reconciliation to the "NPF-minority group led by its innocuous" President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, to join hands with the majority-NPF Party, led by Shri Neiphiu Rio, within a week’s period [of time]."
It also resolved to honours the "remarkable progress" achieved by the Joint Legislature Forum, in facilitating the Naga Peace Talks and in building confidence measures between various Naga Political Groups and recognizes the "imperative" need to pursue a peaceful resolution to the Naga political issue.
" The Consultative Meeting, in this regard, resolves to impress upon the Hon’ble Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly to immediately convene the JLF and continue the urgent task of public consultation with Naga Civil Societies, Non-Governmental Organizations, Public Forums, Naga Ex-Parliamentarians, etc., toward an amicable settlement of the Naga issue, " it stated.
The meeting also condemned the actions of its rivals led by Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu for exerting threats and intimidations to the Speaker and the Secretary and Commissioner of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
"Seriously condemns the continuous and blatant acts of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu’s NPF group—for inhumanely exerting physical threats and intimidations to the Hon’ble Speaker, and the Secretary & Commissioner, Nagaland Legislative Assembly; for gheraoing the NPF Central Office HQs., Bayavü Hill, Kohima; and, for resorting to hooliganism, in contravention of Kohima District Magistrate’s order of restraint, and for organizing public dharna and riotous spectacle in front of the New Secretariat Complex, Kohima, the Administrative Headquarters of the Government of Nagaland", it stated.
The meeting also resolved to urge the Speaker of NLA to "immediately expedite disciplinary and legal actions" against the MLAs who had defied party whip, in accordance with Anti-Defection Rules.
The meeting also reaffirmed the leadership of both Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang and MP Neiphiu Rio "for charting the party and the government in the right direction, at this critical juncture".
It also added that the meeting was attended by the Central Office Bearers; Head of all NPF Central Frontal Wings; President(s) of all NPF Divisions; the legislature wing of NPF, Nagaland unit headed by Chief Minister TR Zeliang; and the legislature wing of NPF Manipur unit, headed by MLA Awangbou Newmai.
