- Says private
hospitals threatening to shut down healthcare schemes is ‘dramatic’

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio felicitating ex-servicemen at a
mega rally for ex-servicemen on Wednesday in Dimapur.
- DIMAPUR — Chief
Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday said that enrolment at Sainik School in the
state has come down of late, and since 2023, there has been a shortfall in
filling up the state quota.
- Rio shared this concern while addressing a mega rally for
ex-servicemen of the Armed Forces and Assam Rifles for the state of Nagaland
and Karbi Anglong district of Assam at the Bhagat Stadium in Rangapahar
Military Station, Dimapur, on Wednesday.
- The CM revealed that 67% of the total 600 seats are reserved
for children from the home state, but in 2023-24, 16 of those reserved seats
were vacant. In 2024-25, a total of 38 seats were left vacant.
- Sharing concern over the inability to fill up the state
quota in the lone Sainik School, he assured that the state will provide ‘better
infrastructure and welfare.’
- “So I want your children and youth to come and join, and we have
started taking the girls cadet as well. We must all try to make our school a
school of excellence. I assure you that the state government will extend all
possible support and assistance wherever required,” he said.
- Similar to the schemes available for servicemen and
ex-servicemen, Rio highlighted the health schemes available in the state, which
include the CMHIS and the PM-JAY, where every citizen in the state gets a
health insurance scheme at empaneled hospitals. “You only have to have a health
card,” he reminded.
- Also, Rio stressed the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance
scheme, which can be availed of by any citizen, where the funding pattern and
subsidy support involve a minimum of 10% by the beneficiary, 60% financing by
the bank, and back-ended by 30% subsidy from the government of Nagaland.
