Dimapur, Mar. 6 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has elected Neiphiu Rio as the leader of NDPP legislature party. The decision was taken during the NDPP legislature party’s first meeting held in Kohima on Mar. 5.
A press release from the party on Tue. stated that the resolution of Indo-Naga political issue was its top agenda. It resolved to play the role of facilitator and make every possible effort to bring about an early solution that is honourable, inclusive and acceptable to the people.
It appealed ‘all sections of the people to leave the bitter experiences of the elections behind and come together under a spirit of unity and oneness in the greater interest of the citizens of Nagaland so that all sections can collectively work towards achieving our common endeavours of economic growth, all round development and lasting peace’.
It expressed appreciation to the voters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and all the members of NDPP. “...endorsed the stand of the party that it will bring positive change, provide good governance, transparent administration and redraw a new roadmap of progressive development for a resurgent Nagaland. The party will promote meritocracy, ensure justice, rule of law and remove VIP culture”.
It also congratulated the ‘Election Commission, including the administration, police and law enforcing agencies for successful conduct of the general elections while appreciating the positive role of the church, tribal hohos, civil societies, mass based organisations, NGOs and the citizens of the state for strengthening the foundations of democracy’.
