Dimapur, Mar. 3 (EMN): The chief ministerial candidate of NDPP Neiphiu Rio has ‘strongly refuted’ a quote attributed to him by national news agency in which he was reported as saying that a ‘Naga peace agreement will be signed on August 10’ this year.
A press release on Sun. stated that the statement was bereft of truth and ‘far from the ethics of journalism’ since Rio had not made any such statement on any occasion or in any interview. The report, it stated, was merely an attempt to mislead people.
“The Naga political issue is a sensitive issue and therefore, it is requested to one and all to refrain from concocting and circulating such fabricated reports without verifying the same as it is not in the interest or welfare of the people,” the statement read.
