IMPHAL — Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the premier medical institute in Manipur, has forwarded a proposal to the concerned ministry to accommodate the students from the state’s hill areas studying in RIMS at the medical institutes in Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
It, however, stated that the response was awaited.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]RIMS director, Dr. G Sunil Kumar Sharma, conveyed this to the Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey, during a meeting at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today.
During the meeting, Dr. Sunil Kumar along with the medical superintendent of RIMS, Dr. N Sanjeev, briefed the Governor about the various developmental projects being taken up in the institute.
He said 90 operations and more than 300 free medical treatments were administered to the affected victims of the violence. The release stated that the governor has appreciated the efforts of doctors, nurses and staff of RIMS in extending their support to the needy people of the state.
Representatives of the coordinating committee on Manipur Integrity’s Women Wing also called on Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan this evening and requested to investigate the alleged atrocities committed on Meira Paibis by central security forces on August 3.
They have requested the governor to take up necessary steps to investigate the incident in which around 90 women suffered injuries. The women wing representatives also condemned the alleged rape of one lady in Churachandpur and requested to take up the case. They also requested the governor to take up all necessary steps to restore normalcy and peace at the earliest possible time.
Meanwhile, the governor has assured to take up the matter with the concerned authorities. She further informed that efforts are on to bring back normalcy and peace.
Former minister of state for Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD), Konsam Tomba Singh from Tangkham Makha Leikai, Imphal East district, breathed his last on Wednesday morning at RIMS hospital in Imphal. He was 79.
The former MLA of Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency is survived by his wife, five sons and three daughters.
According to his family, the former MoS for IFCD was admitted to RIMS Hospital after facing some breathing issues.
