DIMAPUR— The two warring groups within the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) once again exchanged fire at Chen Loiye village in Myanmar on Tuesday morning.
The cadres of Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) at General Headquarters (GHQ) and Council Headquarters (CHQ) were said to have engaged in a gunfight on June 5 too.
As per the Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA), Naga Students’ Organisation (NSO) and Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM), the exchange of fire between the two groups took place on Tuesday around 5-6 am, but no casualty was reported.
The ENSA and NSO in a joint press statement condemned the firing in the village premises, which forced the innocent villagers to flee their homes for no fault of theirs.
“Naga public wants to question the NSCN/GPRN K as you have failed us; on what ground do you stand to defend the Naga national cause and our freedom struggle,” the two student bodies asked.
Naga people cannot trust any government that has gone astray from the “national principles” due to personal egos and personal interests, disregarding the people’s aspiration, it added.
The student bodies further reminded the warring groups that people “strongly stand” on one government, one tax; no partition or formation of new Naga army faction in eastern Nagaland, Myanmar; and no factional clashes within public domains like village premises, paddy fields, public transportation routes etc.
The KUM also appealed to both the warring groups to settle their differences amicably.
