Dimapur, January 10
Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA) and assisted by the Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting Academy, Dimapur, conducted the 1st Aonokpu Rifle & Pistol Shooting Championship 2016, which was organised by the Aonokpu Rifle Shooting Club from January 6 to 8 in Aonokpu village. The shooting championship was conducted as per rules and regulations of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) Match Book 2015, in Small Bore Rifle & Pistol (NR).
Shooters from neighbouring villages as well as from Longchem and Mokokchung participated at the training camp and the championship. The youngest shooter being 11 years old scored 60% in 10 meter Air Pistol.
The championship was conducted in 6 events namely Air Rifle for senior and youth; Air Pistol for senior and youth; 25m Standard Pistol for senior; and 50m Peep sight Rifle prone for senior.
In the 10 meter .177 Air Rifle for senior category, Akumtemsu, Watinungsang and Sosangmar secured gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the youth category, Imonenba was awarded gold.
In the 10 meter .177 Air Pistol for the senior category, Chubawati, K Asangba Longchar and Limatemsu were awarded gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the junior category, Imtirong, Y Ritong and Rongpangnok were awarded gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In the 25 meter Standard Pistol (senior), Chubawati, Yangerlemba and Akumba Jamir were awarded gold, silver and bronze respectively and in the 50 meter Peep Sight Rifle Prone (senior), Akumtemsu, Imtisangba and Watinungsang were awarded gold, silver and bronze respectively.
Meanwhile, NRA president, Merang Jamir, informed that the above mentioned medallists would be given free training from January 15 at the Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting Academy Range at NST Colony and Aries Sports Complex at Bamun pukhuri-A. They would also be allowed to join and participate in all the forthcoming training camps and championships 2016.
Registration for Dimapur camp would starts from January 12, 2016.
Free training camps and championship for Dimapur would be tentatively conducted from January 27-30, Mokokchung from March 17-19, Kiphire from April 5-7, Kohima from April 11-14.
The 7th ARAPSA championship would be conducted at Aries Rifle and Shooting Academy in August, while the 1st Nagaland championships at Nagaland Rifle Association would be conducted in August/ September, and 4th Northeast Shooting Championship at NRA and ARAPSA in September/ October.
