Stating that Rengmas like any other tribe have the right to decide their own future politically, socially and economically, the Rengma Hoho has petitioned for creation of Tseminyu district.
A representation to the Chied Minister, president of Rengma Hoho, Kenyuseng Tep, claimed that Rengmas were politically, socially suppressed and discriminated by the successive State governments since inception of the Statehood.
The representation apprised that Tseminyu sub- division, the Head Quarter of the Rengma Tribe and the oldest administrative centre in Nagaland has been neglected by the State government since the inception of attaining statehood. It said the Rengma, since the time of British India, have a separate (bench court) administrative centre and had contributed enormously in the political journey of the Nagas.
Also stating that the creation of Nagaland State was through special political provision, where Rengma were active part in the process of political and administrative system represented by two members in the Interim- body, the representation said the Rengmas deserved equal political and socio- economic status.
